STLSec is go.

STLSec is an attempt to get something going in Saint Louis similar to CHISec and of course CitySec in general. The CitySec meetups are an informal meetup of like-minded security professionals to dicuss topics of interest in a non-work, non-vendor setting. There's no president. No bylaws. No meeting minutes. No Powerpoints. No BS.

We meet the second Thursday of every month, at The Fox and The Hound pub in Clayton, inside the Cheshire Lodge.

It's relatively quiet, is a piece of STL history, and is convenient for central folks while equally inconvenient for folks in Illinois or West County. You can find it on Google Maps here.

Come any time between 6:30 and 10:00. They have food, and of course, beer and other beverages.

The rules are pretty simple:

Drinking and food (not necessarily in that order) are involved.
No sales pitches please, but bar tabs on expense accounts welcome!
References to SOX, PCI, or FISMA require encourage the speaker to buy a round of shots.

We all know about ISACA, ISSA, OWASP, and the SLUUG. The intent here is to provide a more casual, "meetup" environment for folks passionate about security to hang out and talk shop, on a monthly basis.

Next STLSec is Thursday, November 13, 2008!

See you there. Last month was a bit thinner, unfortunately, so come out this time around if you missed last month. Thanks to everyone who continues to be a regular, and for the rest of you, come on by. We don't bite.
